Would you swallow a pill to look at your gut bugs?
I would! This new research is looking at using a pill to gather information about who is in your gut. This will be amazing when it's available, as right now we get our no 2's sampled via sequencing analysis and this 3D pill would eliminate that.
So far, these researchers have tested this pill and found that it can provide them information on the identificati
on of your gut populations including how many there are. This pill has been tested on pigs and primates so far but in the future it could be used for diagnosis and treatment for humans. This would be a less invasive option to colonoscopies and other gastrointestinal investigations hopefully.
